Catherine showed much compassion for a patient who had previously been on 7 Frederick and had come to 7 North for our elopement technology. Catherine was more than happy to lend a hand to staff on 7 North since she was familiar with this patient. The patient has been a very difficult admission due to his aggression and violence and somehow Catherine was able to break that wall. Catherine built a good rapport with the patient and made him feel comfortable and gave him someone he could trust. It was clear that they bonded over on 7F despite his outbursts and paranoia. In just the short time I met Catherine, can tell she has huge heart and has compassion for her patients. I hope to continue to meet and work with nurses like Catherine who are willing to help in a heartbeat and can see past a patient’s diagnosis. Catherine did not see him as a patient but more of just another human being and did not let his current condition define who he truly is in his soul.
