As an aspiring nurse myself, it is always amazing for me to experience a nurse I am working with handle a difficult patient scenario with grace and patience. But, tonight I experienced this at a whole new level. Cecilia was assigned a patient suffering from severe dementia. The patient was removing IVs and having a very difficult time calming down.
Cecilia was in that room every second she could be calming the patient, encouraging the patient to take deep breaths, and even getting the patient to laugh and smile amongst all that was going on. Cecilia always exhibits a cheery, happy personality and always puts her patients first.
Tonight, she was the definition of compassion and patience and really inspired me to be the best nurse I can be.
