Christina was an exceptional patient advocate, even counseling the patient on her right to refuse, talking to the physician and despite disagreeing, was able to get the patient a vaginal delivery.
We had a very sweet, young, first-time-to-be mom and dad here with ruptured membranes for 12-plus hour induction of labor who had two very long days of not doing much for progress. Christina and her orientee were assigned to the patient, and the patient did not want a cesarean section. The doctor on call for the weekend (who was not the patient’s doctor) called a c-section despite the patient’s desire to keep trying for a vaginal delivery.

Christina was an exceptional patient advocate, even counseling the patient on her right to refuse, talking to the physician and despite disagreeing, was able to get the patient a vaginal delivery. Christina maintained professional integrity, never raising her voice despite having a disagreement, and stated sound, accurate information regarding labor progression, the patient being afebrile, and the fetus having a healthy category one (normal) fetal strip. Christina pointed out all of this information to the provider and held out for more time to allow the patient to progress to vaginal delivery.

We had a beautiful vaginal delivery! The patient, significant other, and the patient’s mother were so very grateful! Thank you, Christina, for going out of your comfort zone and displaying integrity, compassion, and fighting for your patient’s rights. We love having you on our team and appreciate you!
