March 2022 Honoree
Christine King, RN
Christine was caring for a patient with Diabetic Ketoacidosis. The MICU team was having difficulty closing her anion gap. Christine spent a lot of time with the patient and discovered that she was experiencing gluteal pain. The patient was stoic and depressed and had not shared this symptom with anyone else. Christine discovered Crepitus in the patient’s right glute and immediately alerted the team. Surgery took the patient to the OR emergently. It’s mighty likely that Christine’s attention to detail and bedside manner saved this patient’s life.
Thank you, Christine, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
