Does it surprise me that he has been nominated and selected in his short career? Absolutely not!
I have witnessed first-hand, family members coming in after their loved one was cared for by Chris. They have brought in a card, a memorial, treats, or a small token of their gratitude for his compassion for not only the patient but also for his thoughtfulness and understanding of what the family or loved ones are going through. He has been known to hold a loved one's hand in their spouse's final moments. I have been told that it has "cheered up" the patient and their family when they "saw him come on shift", that he "was thorough getting answers that they needed", that "the caring and compassion during their most difficult hours was appreciated more than anyone can imagine".
From a teamwork perspective; his clinical skills continue to grow as he loves the opportunity to learn new things, he maintains a positive attitude in the worst of times, and he helps his coworkers and is supportive in and out of the department. He speaks very highly of OMH and it obvious he loves his job.
There is a reason he selected a new career path and chose nursing as his profession. We are all happy that he did and glad that he is part of our OMH team. Thank you Chris!
