"She goes above and beyond what’s expected of her to make sure each patient has their needs met."
Christy demonstrates professionalism and kindness to each of her patients every day. She always finds ways to comfort and ease her patient’s worries or pains prior to surgery. She goes above and beyond what’s expected of her to make sure each patient has their needs met. She shows compassion on a daily basis. Nobody is more or less important than the next.
The Doctor came forward on behalf of her patient and the family that Christy touched. Although she wasn’t the primary nurse on the case, she did start the patient's IV and greatly put the patient at ease. While she was starting her IV, she was using distraction techniques and asking the patient what her favorite color was and favorite animal, which was purple and a unicorn. The patient sang with her and her mind was at ease prior to surgery. The mother was blown away by her kindness and went forward to the Doctor, stating that she really went above and beyond.
The patient had special needs and was already very anxious about having surgery. After the IV was placed, Christy ran to the hospital gift shop and bought a purple unicorn for the patient to take with her to the OR while she was away from her family. Christy referred to the fact that the hospital gift shop actually had a purple unicorn as an act of God. This is only one example of the daily kindness she shows to her patients. She is an incredible nurse who is valued by our patients, their families, and the entire ASU team! We are beyond lucky to have such an extraordinary nurse working in our departments!”
