Chuchay was assigned to be our nurse on the Labor and Delivery floor at the UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital. We were admitted for Preeclampsia with our first baby. The stress level was beyond measure when we arrived, and the fear was something we have never experienced. The moment Chuchay walked into our room and introduced herself, our stress began to melt away. We have been seen by countless doctors and nurses and began to lose hope with our situation. Chuchay used her God-given humor, style, experience, and grace to break the tension and give us back a glimpse of hope. She took the time to assess me as a whole human. She went the extra mile to learn my family’s names and how they all felt. She used her stories and experience to make me feel less alone and isolated. She made me feel like I had a genuine advocate working for me behind the scenes. The entire time she was my nurse, I felt like I had a friend that I could talk to. She earned my trust! There is something so unique about a person that can read a room, and give the people in front of her a safe place to be cared for. Chuchay has a very special place in the hearts of my family, and we will forever be grateful for her kindness, humor, and care. I hope she receives this message, and knows that she truly made a difference in the lives of a new terrified mom and family. She is right where she belongs. I hope that her life takes her to genuine happiness. Chuchay is an extraordinary nurse!
