I also noticed how quickly Clara prioritized and organized care.
I was a patient who happened to be a nurse in the same facility. Having the knowledge and experience of the bedside routine gave me an insight into being a patient and a healthcare provider simultaneously. Not everyone has this kind of experience to see both sides; therefore, I will take this as an opportunity to express my gratitude to my colleague and acknowledge the exceptional care I received. The entire staff provided outstanding services, but one nurse exceeded the rest, Clara. On the first day that Clara was my nurse, It was my third-day post-surgery, my 8th day NPO, and I was still in much pain. At the beginning of the shift, Clara introduced herself and explained the treatment plan for that night after allowing me to be part of the decision. I also noticed how quickly Clara prioritized and organized care. She rendered treatments on time, routinely checked my pain level, ensured my needs, and kept my bedside clean. Furthermore, since I was admitted for over a week, I also ran out of good veins for IVF drips, PPN, and daily blood work. That morning the resident placed a new order for IV medication that requires a separate IV line. I knew Clara was already done with her shift and about to leave. But since I requested Clara to place a new line, she never hesitated and came back. I was not only content with the quality of care that Clara had given me, but she also prevented treatment delays and lessened my discomfort as she inserted two new lines both in one attempt. Clara is an exceptional nurse that every patient would love due to her profound knowledge, expertise, and compassion.
