Where do I begin to tell the story of the extraordinary nurses, Clinical Educators, CNSs, and supporting admin of this group? This group has repeatedly shown their dedication, flexibility, and commitment to the organization as a whole, to the nurses, and to their own team. We may not be at the bedside, but we sure help guide practice through our constant effort to educate the nurses, especially when the pandemic hit 2 years ago.

We are part of the team who tirelessly worked to provide the most up-to-date education to the whole hospital about PPEs and safety measures to care for Covid patients. We also played a role in helping the different units with their staffing by providing training to different service lines (peri-op to floors) to refresh their nursing skills so they can volunteer to help in the inpatient units.

We also tirelessly onboard new staff, from crisis travelers, regular travelers, and student interns so that they are competent in their job coming into our hospital. But like a blossoming tree, our team keeps on moving forward with the different roll-outs despite the many challenges we face with Covid. Our team helped with the mass education of different equipment, from Vocera, to Rover, KPHC updates, glucometer integration, to Bbraun pumps. These education roll-outs are pretty simple to glance at as an outsider, but a lot of work and decision-making to do behind the scenes. Let us also not forget the training programs. We started with the tele-tiered program and it didn't stop. Currently, our CEPI department is helping and overseeing multiple training programs - Transition to Practice Program, CVICU Training Program, ICU Training Program, NICU Training Program, and L&D Training Program. This will also not be as smooth if it weren't for the innovativeness of this group to provide Virtual Preceptor Classes to continue to provide training while addressing the issue of space and social distancing. 2021 has the highest number of preceptor classes provided in this organization, a total of 11 classes, totaling 41 new preceptors! This is amazing as the previous years would only yield at least 10 new preceptors on average.

And to add one more significant achievement of this team is their support during union strikes. This team had repeatedly proven their dedication to support the organization and keeping patients safe in those trying times with their skills and knowledge of patient care, regardless of whether it is helping troubleshoot a traveler's access or equipment, helping admit patients, or even transporting them. This team also helps out with training travelers so when they come to the different facilities, they are competent with Kaiser's equipment and practices.

There are more instances where this team has really gone above and beyond, and at times, may seem insignificant, but believe me when I say that this is the most versatile, hard-working team I have personally come across and blessed to be part of in my nursing journey. The leadership, the camaraderie, and the dynamic personalities make this team worth every praise and petal of a field of daisies. The outcome? EVERYTHING - from SPI performance, successful roll-outs, and transition of medical equipment, to patients going home safe because of exemplary nursing care - know that there was a nurse educator, a CNS, and a whole team who supported every nurse in this hospital to providing the safest and best care possible.
