When it comes to a good nurse, you're going to have several stories. In today’s day, especially with the pandemic, I've noticed that with all they do, sometimes they get so wrapped up in long shifts, patient after patient, they can lose their smile, or that little extra they usually give to their patients. When it comes to Cortney, her care has always been 100%. She is always smiling even when she’s working with one patient and being notified there’s another situation she’s needed for. I have several things going on medically, anxiety being one of them. There were a couple instances where my anxiety got out of control and Cortney was there to listen and help. Many nurses don’t have the time to sit and talk with you (not just grab some meds). There was one morning I woke up in extreme pain, and this also sent me into an anxiety attack. Cortney immediately addressed the situation, listening to me and acting quickly, to page a doctor to see what she could do. Though I dealt with the situation throughout the day (no sleep and anxiety) she addressed what could help immediately (pain control and anxiety medication) which helped me to receive some help from the pain, getting the anxiety under control and this allowed me to get some much-needed sleep. That was probably the worst day I've ever had in a hospital and she did all she could to help me. This is the type of care she gives. With folks getting so busy due to covid you can see folks lose their smile; no matter the number of patients or the situation at hand Cortney is right there with a smile on her face. Her care stands out and this is in no way a comment to put anyone down or say anyone is better than another. I simply feel when someone goes above and beyond, their work should be recognized and Cortney is one of those individuals.
