CJ made an important change in a suicidal patient's life. This young lady came to 4E with no belongings or hope.
First, CJ encouraged this depressed lady to get out of bed and shower. Next, he asked her why she always wore our patient gowns. She replied, "I'm a patient." CJ responded, "That doesn't mean you have to look like a patient. Maybe someone could bring in some clothes for you."
This worked miracles. This formerly suicidal woman's estranged family gave her nice loungewear which she wore - gladly. When I saw her, she was smiling and playing cards with her peers - actually cheering some older patients up.
CJ helped a young, suicidal woman reunite with her family and society; he gave of himself as the mature, caring nurse that is he.
