Dan went above and beyond his duties in explaining all the processes and procedures I was undergoing. Furthermore, he took the time to explain different ideas and options for my post-op medical care. Dan was instrumental in the day-to-day treatment and coordination across my care team. He thoroughly planned those details with Dr. S to ensure alignment with my care.

Dan took the time to really understand my background and position of my medical history which showed he cared about me as a patient and had my wellbeing at the front and center. Dan also found time in his busy day to keep my family informed of my medical status, medications, and suggestions to watch for to make this a real team effort. And helped my family feel included in this process for those near and far.

Frankly, Dan displayed genuine concern and support for me as if I were a family member of his. He was real with me; he wasn’t afraid to disagree with me and provide other recommendations when I was medically incorrect. But he did it in a way that was informative and had my best interest for recovery. Overall, Dan can be used as an example for nurses to learn from. His bedside manner and patient advocacy can be used as an example so others can learn from his exemplary care and work ethic.

Edward Hospital is lucky to have him! I trust him with my life, and I had the utmost confidence in his capabilities while I was under his care. Dan is coming in on his day off to help facilitate my discharge. All the extra energy and effort he underwent to help prepare all the notes, charts, and other moving parts to not further delay my transition to rehab to continue the healing process. If that isn’t above and beyond for patient advocacy and care- I don’t know what it is!
