Danielle Melchert, RN
A patient had suffered a neurological disorder that kept a sitter 1:1 with him for months on end. Somedays this patient would engage, but other days he wouldn’t, and would, unfortunately, require restraints. While Danielle was his nurse, she noted that we were not caring for him the same way each shift, which only added to his agitation. With the help of her C.N.A, they came up with a written care plan for each 1:1 sitter to follow. This led to more consistent care and a drastic improvement in his condition. This no doubt helped him inch closer to his eventual discharge.
