Danielle builds trust and forms relationships in a simple manner, sitting down and having a conversation.
The symbolism of a Daisy is represented by simplicity, positivity, and happiness. And if you don't see positivity and happiness in Danielle, you haven't met this Danielle. In working with Danielle, I have found her to have compassion for patients and team, courage to make difficult decisions, and integrity. When working with Danielle on the inpatient side, she was very compassionate for her patients to receive the highest quality of care, and to do so, she wanted the best training for her staff. She never let the needs be overlooked by "higher priorities" because, for her, this was a high priority. Patients care and staff needs. The characteristics of integrity in the workplace are building trust, acknowledging coworkers, forming relationships, taking responsibility, increasing cooperation, and leading others. Danielle builds trust and forms relationships in a simple manner, sitting down and having a conversation. She acknowledges her co-worker's accomplishments and even simpler, speaks to everyone she sees, and is always open to chat if someone is having a tough day. She takes responsibility for situations and increases cooperation by the simple words "let's meet and talk about it." She will look at all sides of the situation or project and have the courage to make tough decisions. I have always appreciated the energy and passion she brings to each situation and her ability to be respectful to all involved. She will discuss what is right and what is easy and she has the integrity to stand for what is right. She doesn't back down from a challenging situation and I know she is easy to talk to when difficult situations present.
One of the few specific examples I can provide (many of our interactions involve employee confidentiality) is when the float pool first started. I was requesting help for the clinic. I had a few conversations with Danielle on what my needs were, how that fit in their new process and how could we work out some type of process to meet the clinic needs but not negatively impact their new process. She was compassionate to my staffing situation and we worked through a process. She took responsibility for ensuring the clinic would have help every time it was possible, and I always appreciated her cooperation with the greater team. It is difficult to give specific examples due to the nature of our interactions (employee confidentiality), however, I know she delivers on the qualities of a true DAISY Nurse Leader.
