Many individuals were involved in my sister's care during her stay in the ER, ICU, and floor 5 due to a hemorrhagic stroke. Care has been excellent, but one individual stands out. David Martinez is a role model for exemplary care. My sister has expressed (and I have witnessed as a family member) that his thoroughness, calm demeanor, communication skills, and patient-focused interactions made her difficult situation more positive and less stressful. His explanations of procedures and meds were informative and reassuring. She felt calmer and that she was a part of the process. David was the night RN during the time where her blood pressure was not regulated. He explained the meds she was being given and listened to her questions, concerns, and feedback about what was going on at the time (physical symptoms). She commented numerous times that she was confident care was appropriate and that her issues were being addressed. The entire Kaiser Fontana team has been amazing but David Martinez is an extraordinary RN who made a significant difference during a difficult time. His patient/family interactions are to be commended.
David is a remarkable nurse and he exemplifies the VALUES of Kaiser Permanente Nursing. He provides EXCELLENT care, with INTEGRITY and COMPASSION; he is a TEAM player, extremely PROFESSIONAL, and keeps the PATIENT AND FAMILY IN THE CENTER of everything that he does. David truly is an Extraordinary Nurse.
