We must never forget that nursing is an art and science. And that no matter what… hands-on touch and compassionate care still matter! Our profession is one of human service. David exemplifies all of these characteristics.
I was very lucky to have David assigned to me during my recent hospital admission to O'Brien 4. As a nursing administrator myself, with 41 years of experience, he impressed me immediately. He has all the qualities that are in need. Although he is young in the profession, he is a star and I believe his star will rise greatly. He is clearly smart and committed. His Clinical skills are excellent and his knowledge base in the disease process is superior to most.
In addition, he is an excellent communicator, looks you in the eye, and makes you feel like you are his only patient. He really is compassionate and efficient. In our techno world today nurses often are overwhelmed with charting on their w.o.w.s., texting MDs, giving meds, swiping armbands, and other technical things… we must never forget that nursing is an art and science. And that no matter what… hands-on touch and compassionate care still matter! Our profession is one of human service. David exemplifies all of these characteristics. He is the future.

My husband was admitted, and we received care for a few days from David Torres. He was always being pulled in many directions at once but never lost patience in helping my husband and answering any questions we had regarding his care. When under such enormous stress of heart and breathing issues, everything is worrisome, yet David was kind, compassionate, and very caring. His professionalism in the face of unending interruptions was impeccable. We have dealt with healthcare professionals for over 35 years since his original accident and David was truly memorable. We thank him for all his hard work and dedication and for making us feel like real people and not just another number.
