Deanna is our evening shift Patient CareSupervisor,and is agreat help to everyonewhen she is in charge. Deanna is a great resource for all disciplines when there arequestions or concerns about any of the patients under her care on 4 West.
Everyone,from staff in Pharmacy,to social work,toPhysical Therapy, isable toapproach Deanna with concerns or questions, knowing that even if shedoesn't knowthe answer, she will do everything to ensuretheyhave the information to dotheirjobs to the best oftheirability.
No matter how busy Deanna is, evenwhen there are multiple surgical and direct admit patients coming into the unit, she is always there for the floor staff when we need help.She is caring and knowledgeable,and ensures that the best care possible is given to thepatients and families. She willjump in to answer questions,andhelpspatients witheverything from beeping IV pumps toaccessing thebathroom if the nurses and aides arebusy.
Deanna also knows her staff very well,and recognizes the uniqueness and strengths ofeach ofher team members. She takes care when she makesassignments and listens toconcerns staff members have. Shetakes time to solveproblems,and assists her nursesin any way possible. Deanna fosters an environment of mutualrespect and caring.
Deanna is an advocate for both her employees and patients by always ensuring thatthere are safe staffing ratios for the providers on the floor. She takes patient acuity andeach nurseinto accountwhen shereceivesnew patients.
Deanna is also skilled at her job.She hasamedical-surgical certification and mentors,and encouragesother staff to pursue this certification. She consistently evaluates ourPress Ganey scores,and works to identify ways to improvethemand the patient experience.
