Deanna is a very special nurse. My husband had some very delicate oxygenation issues. Deanna figured out how to manage his desaturations by upping his oxygen before movement. She recognized the importance of getting him to move, whereas other nurses were fearful and decided he should not even move. She exuded confidence and helped through each desaturation that he had. She was kind, cheerful, responsive, and cool-headed. While everyone else in the room (PT, RT aid) was panicky, she grabbed the rebreather mask, rubbed his back to calm him, and got him recovered well. Deanna had a protocol for keeping his O2 up and slowly weaning him back to baseline after an episode, and she trained other caregivers on what worked for him. When PT didn’t listen to her and he desatted badly, she was right there to rescue him. She is confident, especially kind, extremely smart, and very flexible. She truly epitomizes the ideal of a nurse.
