I just wanted to take the time to tell you how wonderful Debi Wolf was yesterday. My grandmother is currently in CVICU. The nurses were extremely busy yesterday with difficult cases and only had two experienced nurses which were Amber and Tim. Debi was in the unit not only checking on them but offering a helping hand. She dumped trash, linens, gave medications, did lab draws, and whatever else she could do to assist the nurses. It was such a wonderful thing to see that she recognized the nurses were in need and she was willing to do anything she could to assist. Most importantly, she touched my grandmother and aunt. My grandmother was in pain and the medications could not seem to make her comfortable. Debi gave my grandmother a bath and rubbed her back until she was comfortable. All of the modern treatments did not provide any relief compared to the TLC Debi had given her. That alone made my grandmother the most comfortable she had been all day and provided relief for her to be able to relax. This is one of the many reasons I think our organization is different and sets us apart! It is not everyday that Executive Directors stop what they are doing to assist and serve the nurses. This to me sets a wonderful example of why we are magnet.
I have always known that the care we give is different, but being on the receiving end sheds a new light on what the art of caring is and how it can make a difference for patients and families. Thank you for your leadership that has set the example for so many of us to strive to achieve.
