Debra set the stage for the whole experience. My entire journey from the mammograms, biopsy, and lumpectomy to the mastectomy was so warm and calm. Everyone was wonderful but one person did stand out. Debra Malay has a light inside of her that shows with her ever present smile. She was with me for my biopsy. Being with her was like just sitting and talking with someone who cared. I was able to remain calm during the procedure. When they asked me to stay still, Debra put her hand on my back and I could feel her warmth and caring. It was very comforting. I was able to smile through the procedure because of a message from my sister and I recited poetry during it and at one point I felt a tear fall from Debra. I didn't want her to worry about me but it shows how special Debra is. Because of all of this and so much more, Debra deserves to be recognized with the DAISY Award.
