Debra has a passion for caring for families experiencing loss. One of our patients delivered a 28-week fetal demise. They were struggling with giving their child a "proper" burial and wanted to validate his existence. Debra arranged services to care for the body with a local funeral home, a memorial service held at Novant Health Mint Hill Medical Center conducted by our chaplain, and food and beverages for the family provided by our dietary department.
Debra came in on her day off to serve as the funeral director to make sure the family was greeted and to take care of any needs. The family expressed multiple times how much what she did for them meant to them. They will forever be impacted by her kindness.
