It wasn't scary, I didn't jump like I typically do, and Dee just managed to turn the whole experience into a positive one.
I don't deal well with IVs. Unfortunately, I have Multiple Sclerosis and am on Ocrevus which has required me to face my fears a little. The bad news is, my getting braver does not help my garbage veins. That being said, at check-in for my appointment today, I requested the IV Team as that is what they suggested I do at my last appointment. Insert Dee Hogue.

She was kind and personable the moment she walked up. She let my husband and I gawk at the screen because we think that kind of stuff is cool, all while carrying on a pleasant conversation and laughing at my husband's bad jokes. When she gave me the numbing injection, I felt very little, which was weird and also a huge relief. When she placed the IV, she got it right off the bat and all I felt was pressure! It wasn't scary, I didn't jump like I typically do, and Dee just managed to turn the whole experience into a positive one.

If I had the option, I would request her every time I need to have an IV placed! She clearly cared about what she was doing, which tells me she cares about everyone she interacts with. I don't believe I've ever thanked someone for my IV before today.

Dee Hogue clearly represents everything that The DAISY Award stands for!
