April 2013 Honoree
denise hopper, RN, BSN CCRN
Denise is an amazing charge nurse that constantly helps every nurse on the unit. She is considerate and empathetic of all patients and their families. I can always count on Denise to provide exceptional clinical expertise when a critically ill patient rolls out of the OR. Her demeanor is calm and caring as she pulls the whole team together to provide a collaborative working environment.
Denise holds a national certification in Critical Care, co-chairs the Professional Practice Council and works on multiple PI projects in the unit. One shift I was very nervous about admitting a post-operative open heart surgery. Denise knew this, and when the patient arrived, she helped me greet the surgery team and patient. She stayed by my side the first two hours to teach and ensure that I was providing the best nursing skill to my patient. She gave me the confidence I needed to continue caring for cardiothoracic patients.

Thank you, Denise, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
