After an amazing 42 years at Baptist Health, we honor Dr. Diane Raines with the DAISY Nurse Leader Award for her amazing example and commitment to compassionate caring in nursing and in nursing leadership.
Mr. Hugh Greene, Chief Executive Officer for Baptist Health said, "Our mission is one of caregiving, and no one epitomizes the caregiving mission more than Diane Raines. Not only is she a caregiver, clinically speaking, but she's also a caregiver to our team members and extends that caregiving spirit to the community." Mr. John Wilbanks, executive vice president and chief operating officer, has worked alongside Dr. Raines for most of her career. "She brings people together, no matter the discipline, in a way that is truly remarkable," he said. "We call her 'the culture keeper' because she always brings us back to our mission of caring, believes in and encourages our team and exemplifies what it means to be a true servant leader."
Dr. Jean Watson, founder, and director of the Watson Caring Science Institute pays homage to Dr. Diane Raines, her distinguished career at Baptist Health, and her commitment to compassionate caring. "I am forever indebted to Dr. Raines for her commitment to the Theory of Human Caring, which goes beyond patient-centered care and goes to the heart of the human-to-human connection. Her poise, grace, and informed moral consciousness has inspired, improved, and evolved all those she has touched. I am so thankful to Dr. Raines and to all who have walked this path of caring with her. She has inspired many people to be the best that they can be in order to offer compassionate, knowledgeable caregiving for the health system and society as a whole. Her supreme level of compassionate service has truly made our world a better place."
