Diego Carillo, RN

There are so many examples of how Diego is a team player that it is honestly hard to pick just one. The most recent example took place Tuesday morning; there were multiple patients in the ER waiting for a bed and the nurses were all maxed out. Diego eagerly went to the 2nd floor and started taking admits from the emergency department. Within a matter of hours, he was able to get patients in a room, settled, and happy. He stayed for the entirety of the shift and had a full patient load, all while coming off of a long weekend of calls and knowing that he would be on call the remainder of the night for the recovery room.

The most amazing part of this day was hands down Diego’s demeanor with his patients and his positive attitude toward the surgical suites staff. In 10 months of working with Diego, I have not once heard him utter a negative word. He is a constant light in the recovery room and shines that light everywhere he goes. He treats everyone he encounters with dignity and respect. When I ask his coworkers how they would describe working with Diego, they gave the following words: Empathetic, Energetic, Kind, Thorough, team player, always willing to help, and a true patient advocate. We are so lucky to have Diego at White Rock Medical Center and he is a true picture of what a DAISY Nurse should be.
