Don took the time to make a playlist that he was hoping would cheer her up.
Every day Don went above and beyond for all of the patients on the unit, not just the ones he was assigned to. He treats each patient like it is his own family. Our first shift there, Don spent part of his day brushing his patient’s hair and talking to her. This patient had been here for a long time and requested to get her hair brushed because it made her feel better and without hesitation, Don was there to put a smile on her face. Another patient who was here for a while was very sad and having a hard time coping with her situation. Don took the time to make a playlist that he was hoping would cheer her up. Not only is Don amazing with his patients, but he’s also an amazing co-worker. Neither of us had any experience with TICU but that didn’t matter when Don was there because he would show us how to do it all. He took the time to explain new trauma terms to us and taught us how to use devices like the bolts. We cannot thank him enough for taking us in and showing us the ropes. He really is a super nurse and we hope to be half as great as he is.
