Donita cared for a patient that had GYN surgery. The patient was supposed to be discharged home, but complained of an intermittent headache. Donita listened to this woman's complaints, provided comfort measures and called the attending physician multiple times that day. She advocated for her patient repeatedly. Ultimately, Donita's persistence resulted in the patient getting an MRI, discovering that several small strokes had occurred. Donita's actions - listening to her patient and advocating for her needs - likely saved this patient from having a massive stroke or worse.
