Donna Lewandowski, RN received a patient who was deteriorating. The patient and his family were very anxious and concerned about this change in status. Our unit was extraordinarily busy, but Donna took the time to answer all of their questions. We all answer questions for patients and family members, but the kindness Donna showed to this family was exceptional. Donna made a point of staying and allowing as much time as needed to reassure this patient and family, even though she had multiple other responsibilities and a busy agenda that day. This family was reassured and their fear and anxiety lessened because of Donna's patience and attention.
