Doris is an excellent clinician, always providing quality care to our mothers and their babies.
Doris has been part of the Lawrence Hospital/NYPW for 40 years. She worked as a medical-surgical nurse for a few years before moving to MCH. Doris worked postpartum and labor and delivery, but her biggest passion was the Nursery. She loved taking care of newborns.

Doris is an excellent clinician, always providing quality care to our mothers and their babies. As a bilingual nurse, she helped many of our Spanish-speaking patients during their recovery, educating them on their care and their baby’s care and preparing them to go home. She always enjoyed being part of this amazing time in her patients' lives: the birth of their baby!

Doris is one of our senior nurses, always willing to be a preceptor for students and new staff. She is outspoken about issues in our unit, always looking for solutions. She is a leader and a great coworker. She promotes trust, not only with our staff, but our patients. You know she has your back, you know she is going to do an excellent job, you know you can always depend on her. She is an integral member of our team!

Doris was one of the nurses who also floated to L&D. Any time L&D was busy and needed help, Doris was there to lend a hand. She is passionate, energetic, and funny. She is a great example of kindness, responsibility, and respect. Her work ethic is outstanding. She always displays professionalism in everything she does. Our patients and staff love her!

After 40 years of working here Doris is retiring. She will be missed dearly. Before she leaves, we would like to recognize the extraordinary contribution of Doris to our MCH unit; that’s why we are nominating her for the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award!
