I want to recognize Mrs. Elaine Meyerson RN, Senior Director of Informatics and Nursing Professional Practice for her over forty years of dedicated service to the profession of nursing, her visionary thinking and motivational influence on others. Realizing that it is essential to continuously update nursing knowledge with evidence-based approaches, Mrs. Meyerson utilizes her leadership roles to be a true advocate for the staff at NYU Langone Brooklyn and encourages everyone to further their degrees, get involved in EBP, and reach outside their comfort zones. She sees that glimmer of light within everyone and brings it to the surface. In many cases, she believes in the nurse's potential more than they believe in themselves. It is her guidance and encouragement that assists the staff in accomplishing what once seemed impossible. She is very humble and takes no credit for all she does for the staff, patients, and NYU Langone Brooklyn. Instead, she gives credit to all of those that she gently guided into being the best that they can be. In her practice, at meetings, or just daily interactions she assists the staff in developing skills and confidence in their leadership that carries over into their personal and professional lives. She advocates for the patients, the nurses, and our organization in her thoughts and actions, which is an inspiration to all. As a truly transformational leader, Elaine engages in effective communication, inspires others, is trustworthy, committed and supports her practice with evidence and theory just as Florence Nightingale did.
