Elaine is our sweet southern gal nurse. It is just her good nature to be considerate and kind. She ensures that patients understand their full instructions before discharge and always looks at patients directly when speaking to them. Aside from her pleasant nursing skills towards Parkland patients she is also a delight to her co-workers. Our HOMES nurses are cross trained in youth and family and when we cover a clinic we are the only nurse on site. Keys in particular can be very frustrating when we cannot open a cabinet or lab door because we cannot find the right key. Elaine purchased colored rubber key rings to help HOMES nurses decipher faster and reduce our anxiety during busy clinics. She also coordinated participation from the youth and family nurses in creating cheat sheets regarding all 12 sites to help simplify things when HOMES nurses cover clinics (small things DO matter). Elaine also helped our department organize a new hire orientation binder specialized for new nurses in HOMES/Youth and Family which our newest nurses have complimented over and ever. She also helped with a much needed update to our HOMES location directory. We service 28 locations throughout Dallas and things have changed over the years such as directors, emails, phone numbers, and some places have even relocated. She did a marvelous job on this time-consuming update.
