Elise helped wash her and listened to her. She made her feel like her voice mattered and that she cared
Being a nurse is difficult - add all the complexity of working with children on top of that and Wow! From the moment we met Elise I realized that she would change our stay at this hospital. I knew that CHOP was the place for our daughter. I had no idea how lucky we were to have Elise as our nurse - thankfully more than once! Elise is patient, caring, understanding, and amazing! I told Elise as we were moving our daughter around in the bed, “you are really in the right career”. She is so calming and even when fellow staff or doctors were calling her phone, coming to get her, and your child is in need she does not make anyone feel less important. She does not lose her cool. She does not seem flustered. I am truly in awe of how she juggles it all. She is also happy and positive -- even when things may seem hard or impossible. Our daughter faces many challenges and at times it can be a little frustrating. I am certain that so many things would not have been accomplished if we did not have Elise. There are so many things to list but figuring out a way to bring our daughter to Ultrasound in her bed because she was so uncomfortable and was finally sleeping stands out. She helped wash her and listened to her. She made her feel like her voice mattered and that she cared. On top of that, she checked on me to make sure that I was OK. She was always so appreciative of any help even though it is my child. I saw Elise even outside of our room with other people and I was blown away by how wonderful she is for her whole shift! Beginning to end and then again the next day! I am so glad that this award exists to show Elise how thankful we are that she was on this journey with us.
