I am so grateful to Beth for her positive attitude, her attention to learning and addressing my concerns, and her consistency.
Beth was my nurse in Same Day Surgery. I was having a couple of hernias repaired. I was scared of the procedure, of the pain, of being cold, and everything that goes along with surgery. I had heard too many bad stories from other people about how they suffered after surgery. From the start, my nurse, Beth, put me at ease. She kept the mood light, used humor, helped me understand what to expect, and made it OK for me to share what I was worried about. She talked me through how my fears about pain or being cold, for example, would be addressed. Her patience and explanations really helped me feel less tense. After my surgery, Beth kept checking in on me and my wife. Beth did a great job explaining what I might expect and guiding us through the next steps as I recovered. I didn't have the unbearable pain that I expected, and my recovery went really smoothly. I am so grateful to Beth for her positive attitude, her attention to learning and addressing my concerns, and her consistency. I never had to ask twice for anything: pain medicine, an extra blanket, or something to drink. Every time she said she would be back to check on me or to see how my pain was doing or said she would bring me something, she did. My wife and I agree that Beth exemplifies excellence in nursing. We would like to recognize Beth, in particular, for her professional care, compassion, communication, and sense of humor, which made our experience so much easier.
