August 2015 Honoree
elsa aleman, RN
I received a patient in PACU at midnight after a 10 hour surgery. After 45 minutes, the patient became very unstable and nearly coded several times. By this time I had started work at 9:00 am, and had been at worked for 18 hours, I was exhausted. When I transferred the patient at 3:50 am to ICU, Elsa was the nurse and she gently took my hand and said, "I've got it". I stood back and could tell she really had it! I was almost in tears; she was so amazing the way she took over. Great teamwork!
Thank you, Elsa, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
