Emily Hays works in the cath lab and during her shift she provided care to a relatively young patient experiencing a heart attack. The patient was in serious condition and Emily's experience, critical thinking, and compassion saved the patient. During the organized chaos, Emily delivered each moment of care with compassion. As the case progressed, the patient required intubation. Following stabilization, Emily took the time to thank every person for assisting her with this patient.
Emily was compassionate, communicated with every person in the room, had a great positive attitude, and demonstrated amazing teamwork. I do not believe I have ever seen another RN in the cath lab function to the capacity Emily was functioning. During such a stressful and pivotal moment in the patient's life, her compassion and teamwork are hard to describe with words.
