On September 9th, after a long holiday weekend, our unit encountered high census numbers and staffing challenges. Emily dropped her usual assignment and jumped into working a staff nurse role in the very busy RAZ department. Emily was taking on more patients and accepting high acuity ESI triage scores that normally would have been seen in the main ED. Because Emily treated a large number of patients alone with her provider, the rest of the unit census burden was greatly eased. Thank you, Emily.
