Emily brings a constant positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and collaboration with team members to work every day. Emily is considerate of patients and families and treats them as she would expect to be treated. She routinely goes above and beyond to accommodate family and patient needs whether it is with education, home supplies or creatively distracting the patient. Emily really takes the time to think what is best for everyone involved and doesn't follow the standard quo.
Recently Emily agreed to precept a student nurse who shadowed her for several shifts. Respiratory season creates challenges with staffing and often our census is very high, particularly in the Emergency/Urgent care. Emily provided an exceptional experience for this student and took advantage of every learning activity. The nursing student hit the jackpot with Emily and I know the student will remember her experience for the rest of her career.
Emily's collaboration skills are clearly evident by her relationships with other nurses, techs and providers. Emily also facilitated a practice change at CHCO by recommending a different needleless device that she used at an outside hospital. Her suggestion was so well received that the entire hospital made the change. Her ability to recognize a problem and critically address the issue with real time effective solutions makes her a competent nurse and team member. Emily's nursing skills and work ethic are inspiring and she is constantly mentoring other staff members to learn and excel. Emily's commitment to CHCO is clearly evident with her own expertise, service and creativity to all patients, families, and team members.
