Erin works very hard in many roles; she is always advocating, problem solving, and is often times the middle man. I know that I can talk things through with her; if she doesn't know, then she finds someone who does.
I have a situation that illustrates that Erin advocates for all who work with her.
We were working together a while back and received notice about a young man in our emergency department. Erin read his chart, and a few notes concerned her. The patient had a congenital vascular history and symptoms that could be consistent with a vascular problem. The pulmonologist had already been consulted and accepted the patient at St Clare. Erin paged and spoke with the pulmonologist before the patient came to the floor to ensure that our ICU was appropriate considering the patient's history. The patient was transferred to a hospital familiar with him after that conversation.
This is just one of many situations where Erin advocates for the patients and staff she works with. I think the only one she doesn't advocate for is herself. My shift always goes by smoother, and with more laughs, when Erin is working.
