Eva was an amazing nurse to my son. She did everything she could to make sure he was taken care of in every way. She found little ways to make his meds easier, hid plastic soldiers in his room, hung out with him, double checked dosages, wore scrubs she knew he'd like. She was silly, kind and thorough. She was genuinely excited when we got good news in his care. She made sure to be part of the rounds so she had all the information and made herself available anytime I had a question. My son was sedated multiple times, had a PET scan, 2 MRIs, a biopsy, wore a neck brace for the majority of his 11-day stay, but the only thing that ever made him cry is that he wouldn't see Eva again! We received excellent care from everyone, but Eva certainly went above and beyond and was a bright spot for us during a stressful time.

Eva was so sweet and caring of everything my child needed. My daughter fell in love with Eva. She is so gentle and listens to all our questions and if she could not answer them, she went and found the answer for us. I have never seen a nurse care for anyone the way she did for not only my daughter but also our family. My daughter even gave her two big hugs and she does not hug people she hasn't been around, I was very impressed and shocked all at the same time. So please give this wonderful nurse all our thanks.

C5B had a mostly non-English speaking family with complicated TB who required many meds/treatments. The patient and his mother were sometimes difficult due to the patient not wanting to take his medications and the mother struggling with her own anxiety disorder. Eva was one the few nurses who could make the patient take his meds without arguing and could make his anxious mother smile. When it came time for this patient's discharge, the mother became overwhelmed with all of the medications, a couple of them were weans, and many of them had side effects. Eva knew that this would be a complicated discharge, so she stayed 3 hours past her scheduled shift to make colorful charts with medication times/doses and wean dates all while using the iPad interpreter. Eva was very thorough and patient with the mother, she took the time to make sure the mother felt comfortable taking her child home. I believe that Eva had a selfless mindset when she stayed to discharge this patient; it truly helped the C5B staff. I also believe that Eva's kindness and compassion helped make the discharge process for the patient and his mother go smoothly and comfortably.
*Eva was also presented with The Art of Caring Award from the Dr. and Mrs. Bruce Meyer family endowment fund in recognition of her achievement.
