Flo took time to listen to me and to do little things that made me feel comfortable. She got to know me as a person, not just a patient. She made me feel like her friend!
I would like to thank my nurse Flo; I was in the hospital for six days. I've been in the hospital several times previously, however, I have never felt so taken care of and feeling good after I left. With COVID-19 and fires, I couldn't see much out my window so it was an enduring process. Even with all that was going on. I felt Flo went out of her way to help in many ways. She made sure my food order was right, if it wasn't she'd fix it. She made sure I had everything before I even had to ask. She took time to listen to me and to do little things that made me feel comfortable. She got to know me as a person, not just a patient. She made me feel like her friend! She realized that I was a patient who likes to joke and she just went with it. I'm 65 years old and this is the first time I have ever been treated so well in a hospital, for this stay. I had two surgeries and it wasn't easy, Flo made it easy for me. At one point when I was in the shower, she even made my bed. I have never seen a nurse do that! Flo had no problem doing anyone's job, or helping out, and helped me in every way. We even had nicknames and I learned her childhood nickname "Tata." If I needed something she found a way to get it. If she had to ask a doctor she did and she got it done, as other times it would take hours sometimes days. I felt like she got to know me and how I liked to take my medicine. What I like to watch on TV, what I liked and how she could make me feel better. All the other nurses and CNAs and doctors were great on the floor, but Flo just stuck out to me and made me feel like a human, not a patient. Hard to find these days and I want to say thank you. By the end when I was being discharged I could say I was going to miss her. Flo thank you for everything you do.

I am a cancer patient who recently had to stay in 3 North. All of the nurses were so amazing, but one, in particular, stood out. Flo, was so kind and helpful always on the go yet never took long to get to me. She was just as close as a mother taking care of their child. She is absolutely AMAZING. Very informative on everything when it came to my medications, to my labs, to even tips I could do at home. My mom also loved her. They got along and were friends straight away. Like a said ALL of them were so nice and helpful, but Flo went the extra mile. I will always request her if I come back. Thank you to the entire 3 South unit! You all made my stay bearable. You all made me feel safe and comfortable. I appreciate that with all my heart.
Note: This is Florita's 2nd DAISY Award!
