It touches my heart greatly to know someone was talking to my son to help him ease his pain.
My son has anoxic brain damage and had surgery for a colon mass along with a colostomy bag. Gary was the first nurse that cared for M. I received a phone call the first day asking me if M would respond to a suggestion to blink his eyes if he was in pain. He tried it and thought he blinked to let him know. I have not seen M respond to anything like this. It touches my heart greatly to know someone was talking to my son to help him ease his pain. More importantly because of his severe brain injury. I felt Gary is very special and deserves recognition for his superior understanding and caring. I also believe that all the people I’ve met at this hospital deserve special recognition. It was a positive experience for a not-so-positive situation.

Gary, you are being recognized for the care, compassion, and expertise that you share with patients, colleagues, and peers. Thank you for your commitment to professional nursing and congratulations on this recognition!

Note: This is Gary's 2nd DAISY Award!
