Gelisa Martin, LVN

Gelisa orchestrated a very special moment for her patient and his spouse. He happened to be hospitalized during their 13th wedding anniversary and was anticipating a procedure in the coming days he was quite anxious. Gelisa brought this to the attention of other staff on the unit and crafted a card, found some small containers of ice cream for the couple, and gathered the staff to sing Happy Anniversary to the tune of happy birthday in the room. She also gifted them a handcrafted yellow rose made from fall-risk socks on an oral swab stem.

Gelisa is always thinking of how to bring a little light to her patients when they are feeling down. The couple were overjoyed with the thought awarded to their sentimental day and promised to keep their rose to remember the event. I admire how Gelisa can connect with her patients, tune into their covert needs, and use her creativity to turn the situation around. I am so happy that she is part of the team and work with her often. She is a true Gem!
