Georgina rang me to check how things were, she talked to me in a way I could understand and showed the most genuine compassion for both me and my daughter.
Georgina Martin is a nurse who, without a doubt, is well deserving of an award and worth the time to show my appreciation. Here is my story: I was diagnosed with sarcoma at the beginning of Covid. I was unable to see family or friends. I was hospitalised for Chemotherapy 5 days a week, followed by 5 weeks of radiotherapy, then finally surgery. To say the least, I was traumatised, but on my first meeting with Georgina she made me feel calmer and that I was in the right hands. Georgina was a safe person, a friendly and kind lady, who remembers my name and stops to say hello, even in a corridor. Georgina even emailed me any information I needed knowing my ‘chemo brain’, emotional, forgetful, and anxious state of mind.

Then the bombshell …. My daughter was diagnosed, aged 30 (with a tiny baby), as having terminal stomach cancer. She was under The Christie Hospital. This situation was, in all fairness, not something Georgina needed to even think about, but she did! Georgina rang me to check how things were, she talked to me in a way I could understand and showed the most genuine compassion for both me and my daughter. Sadly my daughter died and I have been so devastated! Georgina didn’t stop her exceptional way of making differences in my life, she has now helped me secure an appointment with psychology, and emailed me the details again. I do hope someone reads this and recognises Georgina for an award. I desperately needed some help and Georgina was there, above and beyond, this is her passion for people, not just a job.
