Geropsych

Over the last year, team Geropsych has faced and overcome numerous challenges based on the Joint Commission gap analysis. At each analysis, the team has risen above the changes, held their head high, and overcame the changes. The major change has been the ligature risks. Each area and room of the unit has been touched and changed. Each time a change occurred, staff adapted and embraced. Despite the disruptions to work, patients, and families, 4 North has been able to keep restraint numbers reduced, keep fall numbers reduced and keep our families happy, as evidenced by having a basically green family satisfaction report card and status 1 Culture of Safety. Safety continues to be a priority, with reduced incidents of contraband despite a variety of workmen on the unit. For their endurance and tenacity in adapting to these changes I nominate the 4N staff for the DAISY team award.
