Gina Madsen has worked for IU Health for four years and is a charge nurse in PICU. A graduate of Ivy Tech College, she is returning to pursue her BSN at the University of Indianapolis. She was nominated for a DAISY Award by her co-worker based on the compassionate care she provided to a young girl in the PICU.
The patient's mother told Madsen's co-worker about the wonderful things Madsen did when providing care, describing her as "my daughter's angel" because of the way Madsen whispered in the girl's ear to comfort her. The mother also noted Madsen's knack for arranging stuffed animals and blankets in "just the right way" to make the child as comfortable as possible.
