I want to start this letter by saying thank you to everyone! You know, as a parent/step-parent or adoptive parent, you never would imagine your child or children having any form of mental illness, nor do you want to see them display any type of emotional distress, but unfortunately, recently, myself and my husband have had to endure the bad/ugly side of it all. On Saturday, our son was really going through some deep depression along with some behavioral outbursts, and on his own, he reached out for help from the Baptist organization. At that moment, it was strange that a calming sense of relief was restored in my and his father’s minds; we knew that our child was in the best hands. He was admitted to Tower 613 along with the advanced technology of the VMU. As an employee of the CMU/VMU, you can probably imagine the sheer embarrassment that could have caused, but instead, the Baptist Organization became my new family in which everyone from my manager to my colleagues showed me love, compassion, and privacy. I pray this letter will fill your heart as much as you did ours. For the floor staff, I especially would love to mention Grover Cheshire RN (FLEX). When I tell you he showed the exact meaning of the word NURSE, it brings me to tears. The patience, compassion, love, and dedication he exhibited definitely define the truth as to why he holds the title of NURSE/RN. To witness this, we became overwhelmed with emotions. In conclusion, I would like to add that all of this will be forever remain in our minds and hearts as we continue this emotional rollercoaster in hopes of returning our child’s mental state in order for him to continue life as a young adult who uses the term “Life is just Life in and someone how I got lost,” as a description of what all has transpired.
