The patient does not have much memory of her time in the ICU, but she remembers Hadley. She credits Hadley with helping her turn the corner.
There was a patient who spent a month in the ICU. She was on a ventilator and eventually needed a tracheostomy. This patient was extremely sick and required maximal support from the ventilator. After her tracheostomy, her oxygen needs decreased, and she was improving from a respiratory stance.
Hadley Hilton cared for this patient near the end of her stay in the ICU. She cared for her the day she had her tracheostomy and the day after. The patient does not have much memory of her time in the ICU, but she remembers Hadley. She credits Hadley with helping her turn the corner. Hadley, on the day after the patient's tracheostomy, got the patient out of bed. Hadley asked her what her favorite music was and put it on for her. They had a "dance party." Hadley got the patient in the chair for the first time in a month. Hadley washed and braided her hair. The patient and family gave high praise for Hadley. When the patient transferred out to another unit. Hadley went to visit the patient, and she braided the patient's hair when she visited. She went above and beyond to provide remarkable care for this patient.
