My husband and I arrived at the labor and delivery unit for a scheduled induction a year and a half after we lost our newborn daughter. Haley has followed our story for over a year now. When she was asked if she wanted to be my nurse for my labor and delivery, she without hesitation volunteered to work this shift to be there for us and the arrival of our new daughter. This alone shows that Haley goes above and beyond for her patients. We met her in the hall, and she set the tone of how the day was going to go. There was excitement, and positivity, and the room was so light and airy, and she helped make it the best experience it could be. We laughed and shared special moments. She provided me with the best support and care during such a vulnerable, emotional time. She talked about my late daughter and living children, which is so important to us. Her whole shift she was checking in on us to make sure we were doing okay. When I began to become emotional over the loss of my daughter and the birth of my new daughter, she assured me I could do it and other words of encouragement. She has been a part of all four of my births, and each time she amazes us with the care she provides. We will always remember Haley as a huge part of my daughter’s birth. She left her shift giving us a hug as we thanked her, but I do not believe that is enough to show our gratitude for her. She is so deserving of this DAISY Award.
