Hanna Yates is an example of what we all desire our nurse to be if we are unfortunately placed in the hospital. Burns are painful! Some days patients need a bit more compassion – no judging about pain, - no hard words, - and no “I’ll be there in a minute”. Just a soft voice with compassion and generous concern for their wellbeing. What a sense of humor! When you are away from your family, suffering a burn, or depending on strangers to care for you intimately, it seems a positive attribute to have a little humor – with finesse.  I asked that Hanna be honored in such a way as to give light and encouragement to a budding young nurse. My husband is thankful for the care she gave him.
