Hazel strongly advocates for her patients and the staff on the unit. She manages the unit during frequent staffing shortages and shows excellent teamwork.
Hazel functions as an Administrative Nurse 1 on a busy nursing unit. She manages her responsibilities in a professional and organized manner. She role models professional communication, excellence in patient care, and compassion. Her unit cares for medically complex patients and frequently receives patients who require increasing levels of care. She demonstrates continued forward thinking to ensure efficient throughput so that patients can be transferred to her unit in a timely manner. She communicates well with the House Supervisors and Patient Placement to help ensure effective throughput and safe transitions in care.
Hazel proactively begins her day each day she is in charge, always keeping the patients' needs at the center of her decision-making. She has acute clinical judgment and supports her peers in any needed way. She has frequently made herself available as a clinical expert to multiple units, sometimes preventing unnecessary transfers of patients. She strongly advocates for her patients and the staff on the unit. She manages the unit during frequent staffing shortages and shows excellent teamwork.
She serves as the chairperson of the Administrative Nurse 1 meeting. She transformed this meeting into a well-organized, professional forum, which was productive for all who attended. She ensures that all agenda items are well presented and that follow-up on outstanding issues is completed.
As Administrative House Supervisors, we enjoy her collaborative approach to caring for our patients in our teaching facility. She demonstrates a never-ending compassion for patients, family members, and staff. It is always a great pleasure to work with her.
